Thermoforming is the preferred process for packaging products and is a manufacturing process where a plastic sheet is heated to a pliable forming temperature, formed to a specific shape in a mold, and trimmed to create a usable product.
The sheets, or film when referring to thinner gauges and certain material types is heated in an oven to a high enough temperature that it can be stretched into or onto a mold and cooled to a finished shape.
Thermoforming differs from injection moulding, blow moulding, rotational moulding and other forms of processing plastics and is the preferred choice in the manufacture of containers, lids, trays, blister packs, clamshells and other products for the packaging industry.
Belpac utilises a range of different gauges dependent on the product it is packing.
We recycle all of our scrap and waste plastic which is converted back into extruded sheets for forming again.
