Food for thought as packaging exhibition proves a Total success for Belpac |
||
Wolverhampton based packaging specialists Belpac enjoyed a frenetic few days at the recent Total Processing & Packaging exhibition held at the NEC. Visitors were drawn to Belpac?s large range of thermoformed packaging solutions that were on display together with samples of a biodegradable material the company is currently staging tests on. Particular interest was paid to food packaging products at a time when exhibitors and visitors were informed that due to exploding global populations and the effects of climate change more pressure is set to be put on the food industry than ever before. Ian Blunt Managing Director of Belpac said, ?The exhibition proved very successful for us. We were busy on the stand across all three days and are now actively dealing with enquiries and quotations for new business prospects from potential customers across the UK. ?The food packaging market is continuing to grow and it was no surprise to hear industry speakers reveal that packaging is set to play a crucial part in feeding the worlds growing population in the coming decades, as the world faces dramatic challenges to its food supply. ?Industry insiders predict that even if the worlds population doesn?t change, Food production will still have to increase by a third and that packaging will play a huge and pivotal roll, as at present 40-50% of produce grown in developing nations is wasted due to it not being processed and packed compared to just 3-4% in the UK. The world?s population however is forecast to grow from 6bn to 9bn by 2050. ?Markets are continuing to change and the food industry has certainly become a major part of our future business plans. This key growth area was identified by the Belpac sales team some time back and since then we have developed a range of packaging solutions for items such as fresh fruit, nuts, biscuits, cakes and confectionery. We are continuing to invest a lot of time, energy and resources into this market sector further and visitors to the stand were impressed at our flexible service and understanding of the industry requirements,? added Ian. Belpac also used the exhibition to portfolio its wide range of packaging solutions for other market sectors including Horticulture, Cosmetics, Household Products, Industrial, Computer/Technical and Medical.
